Chicfinds fashion brand MLM The Label

fashion

I am loving this brand; MLM The Label. It’s fresh, minimalistic and contemporary with good shapes and easy wear options. Created by Julia Softley and named after her twin sisters; Camille (Millie) and Corinne (Min). The Label has a fresh approach to classic wear with basic tops and pants and dresses that drape in the right places with fabrics that create great shapes.

ChicFinds and a make over

Beautiful things, Interiors

Are you wanting to make over any part of your home? Refresh it with something but you don’t want to spend a lot of money replacing everything, you just want another point of view. There are many ways to revive a room be it the kitchen or the nursery. Sometimes it can be as simple as a curtain, blind or feature wall. Often a new set of cushions or a beautiful object. Creating harmony can often be the challenge. Lighting, tones and symmetry are key to creating a space that feels just right. Image

ChicFinds is offering you a free consultation if you send this blog post on to your friends and they become followers of ChicFinds.

Image

From a photo I will suggest to you ideas on repositioning the furniture, introduction of blinds or curtains or fabric. Sometimes it is the balance of textures, prints and tones that can put an imprint on a room.

Image

Often rooms need a point of focus or a symmetry in terms of the height of furiture or lighthing. To create this symmetry or focus you can also use greenery. Plants often soften a space and create a feeling of freshness and by introducing the greenery it can offset wood or colours very well.

Image

Despite living in doors our natures love the outdoors and that feeling of nature, lying under a starry sky or sleeping on the beach while hearing the waves crash on the sand. Having some of that nature indoors with use helps us relax and creates a serentity within our living space.

Picking homewares is the same as picking our clothing. It has to come together and have a synergy. The tricks of the trade are not written on the walls so if you need a helping hand, send me the list of your three new followers of ChicFinds and a photo of your space and I will send you 5 very good pointers in the direction of recreating the space.

Look forward to creating with you!

Variations on Chic By Mario Sorrenti

fashion, Photography

Fashion is a never ending revolving cycle, it goes forward, backwards and makes full circles and fundamentally it is always varied! Thank goodness as it would get very boring if everything suited everyone. You take from fashion what you like and what inspires you and if it takes you on a journey, good, its doing its job. One of the most beautiful aspects of fashion is photography and the art of translating garments and creating stories. Here are a few images from Vogue Italia by Mario Sorrenti.

Black and white, lace and lines are all classics to be played with.

Image

There is nothing quite like a groomed hair and make-up to create the look. It takes you back to dress ups when you were a kid and a transformation would transpire and you could be anywhere, anybody in any life but yours!

Thanks Mario for bringing us some of the most beautiful photographs. MiaoX

Chic garden sheds!

Interiors

If you find out that you don’t have the space for a granny studio, garden studio, outdoor cottage then you can look into a garden shed. The name garden shed conjures up to mind a rough looking shed in aluminium lacking completely in character, well things have changed and the garden shed can be a delightful space in which to study, play, plant or meditate.

If you watched the latest tribute to the Queen for the Jubilee then you might have been as enchanted as Chicfinds to see her childhood cubby house. Hardly a cubby house but the same idea anyway even if the Queen’s is slightly bigger than the usual. What a wonderful thing to have a little house away from home to explore, create and ponder.

Why shouldn’t we have a cubby house/garden shed to play in for all ages?

Chic finds loves the garden shed!

Chic Finds the 60’s

Beautiful things, Photography

Chicfinds the 60’s one of the most inspiring era’s for fashion, beauty and aesthetics.

If you love this era for the style then you can’t miss the tv series Mad Men. It is a brilliantly directed and photographed series that is based on an advertising firm in NY on Madison Avenue in the 1960’s. The costumes, hair styles and set design is so well done that you become immersed in the era. Chic finds loves Betty and her every look which signals style, glamour and a throw away feeling that must have come after the war when there was a new found wonderment of life and the sexual revolution!

The pointy shoe, red, black and Bee hive’s are all signatures of the 60’s. A red trench or a pointy shoe scream 60’s siren…. Dolce & Gabbana always have something to offer from this era and this season is no exception with a Sicilian theme. Shop the colleciton with Net a Porter; http://www.net-a-porter.com/Shop/Designers/Dolce_and_Gabbana/All or go directly to Dolce & Gabbana store: http://store.dolcegabbana.com/

You cant go past vintage when you want to dress up with a 60’s inspired outfit. The good vintage shops will have that unique piece which will finish the outfit. Visit Eva’s Vintage as they have some amazing dresses, jewelry and knits http://www.evasvintage.com/EV/Home.html

Chic Finds loves the photography of Mert & Marcus. Represented by one of the best Photographic Agencies in the world; Art Parner, you can see their amazing porfolio: http://www.artpartner.com/artists/image/mert-alas-marcus-piggott/

Wikepedia this week writes:

“Mert and Marcus are Mert Alas and Marcus Piggottfashion photographers. Their work and style is heavily influenced and shaped by the photography of Guy Bourdin and also the use of digital manipulation of which they have pioneered the use. They have defined the look of the past decade and as a duo are one of the most respected and acclaimed photographers working today.

Mert and Marcus, both born in 1971 in Turkey and Wales, respectively, met for the first time in England in 1994 after having worked for a brief period in completely different areas, the first in classical music and the second in graphic design. Marcus was an assistant photographer and Mert was a fashion photo modeler. After working together in the photography business, they decided to create a team. When they showed their first photos to “Dazed and Confused”, the London fashion magazine, they immediately made the cover.

Strongly known for their portraits of sophisticated, powerful women, Alas and Piggott’s photos lend an air of grace and unmistakable perfection to advertising. “The difference between us and other photographers is that we care a lot about appearance,” says Alas. “We spend most of the time in the make-up and hairstyling rooms”. The team works today for magazines such as Vogue USA, Vogue Italia, W Magazine, Pop Magazine, Numero and Arena Homme Plus. Some of their major clients are top fashion labels such as Louis Vuitton, Missoni, Giorgio Armani, Roberto Cavalli, Fendi, Kenzo and Miu Miu. They created the images for perfume houses such as Gucci, Yves St Laurent, Givenchy and Lancôme. “

What’s Madelaine wearing for ChicFinds?

fashion

Maddy is at university in Sydney and she is gorgeous girl who loves the nature. This is one of her outfits that she saids “keeps me warm and comfortable”… Seems the trend of the Doc Marten’s is back and here is some inspiration.

Maddy is wearing  black mid twiggy Wrangler jean with a Nasty Gal Maddy slouch jumper http://www.nastygal.com/with a Stussy duffle coat and Dr Marten’s boots. You can shop Dr Marten boots at The  Iconic; http://www.theiconic.com.au/women/shoes/dr-martens/?sort=popularity&dir=desc, Styletread; http://www.styletread.com.au/dr-martens?gclid=CPzxgJCfu7ACFQcrpAodGiyjoQ or directly from the source; http://www.drmartens.com/

Summer or winter the Dr Martens look good. They make a cute dress edgy or leggings and a jumper look cool.
