Chicfinds boho style; home, wardrobe & getaways!

Beautiful things, fashion, Interiors, Travel

Bohemian has many different definitions but the general meaning is a movement of artist and poets in late 19th century France, especially in Paris. Bohemians believed in living outside of the bourgeois (conventional, middle class) mainstream culture. Bohemians were against the Salon (the institution that controlled the literary and art market in France until the turn of the 20th century)and believed that art and literature should be radical.

Bohemian style is about doing things your way, away from convention and its all about self expression and creative energy. Creating your own style using recycled or finding things on a shoe string means also creating magic from the mundane. Along side having Pamela Love, For Artists Only Boutique in Rose Bay has a collection of really beautiful designers including, Alexander Wang, Lover, Sass & Bide and Ksubi; http://www.forartistsonly.com/contact/

Some of the best buys available are now at temporary pop up stores and in Sydney this weekend there are two worth visiting. Firstly on George Street in Sydney city (next to Apple Store, opposite The Strand Arcade) there is a pop up store of mixed international brands including Belstaff, Just Cavalli, Lanvin, Dolce & Gabbana, Replay and Twenty8Twelve. The stock is a mix of men and women’s clothing, footwear and accessories and there is a bargain to be had! Some great finds are the shoes from Belstaff,  shirts and jackets for men by Dolce & Gabbana and Lanvin, some beautiful scarfs by Etro and also candles by DL &Co.

This weekend there is also the boutique markets on Sunday showcasing arts and crafts and special product that is made with love and care and is ideal for Xmas presents or Xmas decoration. Definitely worth a browse. Visit the website for more detail; http://boutiquemarkets.com.au/sydney/ Another great place to visit on the weekend is HFOC (Home Furnishing On Consignment) which is a shop in Alexandria which stocks second designer furniture. The pieces are special and they are there on consignment so you can find some great pieces that would normally cost double or tripple the retail price. If you love quality and you cant afford it then this is a fantastic option as despite the pieces being second hand they are in great condition. There web site is a great place to start as everything in stock is available to view including price; http://www.hfoc.com.au/

Another must for shopping is the Leather Shop. The Leather Shop has a temporary pop up store in Darlinghurst, Sydney and there are some beautiful bags on offer. One of our favorites is the tan Catalina bag which is so perfect for this summer’s earthy tones fashion; http://www.leathershop.com.au/hobos/678-etrusco-catalina-hobo-tan-genuine-leather-handbag.html and another  favorite is Bellosguardo; http://www.leathershop.com.au/cross-body/636-etrusco-bellosguardo-tan-cross-body-leather-sacthel.html The bags are beautiful leather and amazing quality. All made in Italy and yet still at such reasonable prices.
