One of the best times to be in Milan is during Design week. Milan is a city that is beautiful behind closed doors but during Design Week it comes alive and there is so much going on you risk not being able to see all that is on offer. As http://www.yatzer.com said “From the sprawling RHO Fiera and its epic 24 halls of Salone Internazionale del Mobile, through to the design events spread far and wide across the entire city in every direction, it continues to be virtually impossible to do and see it all.”
I was reminded of this special week when I saw some photos recently of Paola Navone’s project in Via Tortona in collaboration with Richard Ginori. Paola Navone is an Italian architect and designer with an incredible portfolio of work. She continues to excel in everything she does with recent projects including The Conran Store, Crate & Barrell. In her long and many-sided career she has switched easily between the roles of architect, designer, art director, interior designer, critic, teacher and organiser of exhibitions and events, both independently and for select clients: Abet Laminati, Armani Casa, Knoll International, Alessi, Piazza Sempione, Mondo, Driade, Orizzonti, Arcade, Oltrefrontiera, Casamilano, Antonangeli, Dada, Molteni, Natuzzi, Roche Bobois and Swarovski being only some examples.
If your passing by Europe, drop in to Milan for some exceptional design that you cant find anywhere else in the world. It is also a one off opportunity to be part of an amazing vibe that only pure design will pump. To see Paola’s latest collaboration take a look at The Conran store http://www.crateandbarrel.com/Paola
